Anax Imperator
Emperor Dragonfly
29th July
I have been trying for a few weeks now to get a few photos of a male Emperor Dragonfly without any twigs or grass in the way and up until now have not managed the desired shots. I spent an hour in East Blean Woods near Canterbury, Kent looking for butterflies when I noticed 2 Migrant Hawkers flying around, my first of the year. In trying to photograph these I come across a stunning male Emperor Dragonfly out in the open allowing me to creep up and fire off a few pleasing shots of this species. What I had expected to be a quiet hour certainly proved to be very satisfying indeed.
