Platycnemis pennipes
As promised in my previous post, here are some photos of a mature male White Legged Damselfly, while eating a moth for dinner. Ferocious predators indeed! These photos were taken on 14 August 2012 at Rihios river in northern Greece. This is the only place that I meet these guys and I always enjoy a walk by this river.
Biologion - Thanasis
Hi Thanasis! Beautiful images, I prefer the second! It is true that we often forget that these flying graceful are predators! Greetings, M.
RépondreSupprimerThanks Morikan! It's actually amazing how such little animals predate to even smaller animals! Especially in their larval stages they have ferocious jaws.
SupprimerC'est vrai que le support du second cliché le met davantage en valeur, bien joué !
RépondreSupprimerMerci Alain!
SupprimerWell done, 2 great pictures of a lovely damsel!
RépondreSupprimerThey can come in my garden and take care of the mosquitoes!!
Thank you Noushka! That would be quite a convenience! A very successful mosquito repellent :)
