These Black-tailed skimmer I photographed in June this year in the Kuinderbos. The just sneaked (Orthetrum cancellatum) I have photographed in May of 2014 in the same area.

  1. Hi Helma! Very beautiful pictures of these young females, bravo! They are magnificent in their young age! On the other hand, the English translation of the Latin name Orthetrum cancellatum would rather be "Black tailed skimmer"... Greetings, M.

    What a magnificent series on the Black-tailed skimmer!
    Morikan is right, that is the english name for the species :)
    Winter has this advantage to allow us to post all the extra pictures taken during the flying season.
    Beautifully photographed, well done and thanks for sharing :)

  4. Photos as always are beautiful, but it seems to us that on the pictures 4 and 5 is Broad-bodied chaser Libellula depressa :-).
