Hi Helma! What a beautiful series, and this young female is sensational! Pictures associating flowers and dragonflies are always interesting! It's the summer which returns to us with her! On the other hand, I am not sure at all that it involve Southern Sympetrum: the vulvar blade is too striking (first image), the black line along the eye goes down far too much (third image), the black marks of the thorax are too important, and the yellow parts of legs are too fine... In my opinion, and errors excepted, it would be rather S. vulgatum, a young female, that for me would be a beautiful capture, because rather rare in my region! Don't worry, we are wrong all some day, and the identification of Sympetrum is sometimes difficult! Greetings, M.
RépondreSupprimerHello Helma,
RépondreSupprimerWhat a beautiful series of photos of this young female!
Many thanks for sharing it with us.
However I agree with Morikan, the black line along the eyes tell us that it is not S. meridionale nor S. striolatum.
In your area it can only be S. vulgatum, also a dragonfly I don't have in my area, you are lucky! ;-).
I don't think merionale has reached so far up yet geographically but with the climate change who knows?!
Thank you for the feedback.
RépondreSupprimerI will change it as soon as possible. Difficult to identify the species.
Greetings, Helma
Oh avec des fleurs, superbe Helma ! Bravo, c'est magnifique.
