A Seaside Visit

Erythrodiplax berenice, Seaside Dragonletis a species that can be found in the wet, grassy areas in or around salt marshes. These odonates are the only species in North America specialized to breed in brackish or salt water.

This species is highly abundant this time of the year around the coastal salt marshes of Florida.

The males darken at a rapid rate and the mature male is very dark blue to black with reddish eyes. The females contain much more yellow. Female and immature males contain striped thoraxes. There is a "male like" female form as well.
