Nearly a first for me although I had photographed an individual with Alain in 2010 hand caught. This is a rare species in France and I feel most lucky to have witnessed this male swooping down on the unwilling female in front of me. They fell in the grass but would he have succeed to take off with her... no pics!
In Great Britain, it can be found only in the tip of South-west Ireland and North-west of Scotland.
It lives around peat bog areas avoiding open waters.
Flies from mid-June to but only from July to end of August northernly.
