Growing Willows!
Lestes (Chalcolestes) viridis
Willow Emerald Damselfly
In the past few years in Kent, this very rare Damselfly has slowly grown in numbers and has gone from strength to strength in some areas. Thankfully I live in an area where there are a couple of good sized colonies. As far as the national picture looks, the South East of England is the stronghold for this species. I have spent many sessions photographing these little beauties and have taken a few pleasing images throughout the past few weeks. It seems that they are slowly spreading throughout the county of Kent, the best areas being around Marshside, Reculver and a single female seen this year in the Stour Valley at Stodmarsh NNR.

Wow Marc ! What a fantastic series ! This species is rather common in Touraine, but it's always a pleasure to see it again ! The close-up is marvellous ! Thank you ! Best regards, M.
